Illysa Gagne- Online bullying

"What Is Cyberbullying." Home. N.p., n.d. Web. 29 Sept. 2014.
  • This was written to inform about cyber bullying. The information it hit on was what cyber bullying is, how it’s different, the effects of it, and the frequency. In this article it states some examples of cbullying include mean text messages or emails, rumors sent by email or posted on social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles. It also states that children who are cyber bullied are more likely to: Use alcohol and drugs, Skip school, Experience in-person bullying, Be unwilling to attend school, Receive poor grades, Have lower self-esteem, Have more health problems. It does not state who actually wrote the article but at the end of the article it says it is a federal government website managed by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services 200 Independence Avenue, S.W. - Washington, D.C. 20201. I do not believe it is up to date because the last set of statics was in 2011. I thought this article was a very simple article to read but had many important facts about cyber bullying in it.

"Cyberbullying." KidsHealth - the Web's Most Visited Site about Children's Health. Ed. Larissa Hirsch. The Nemours Foundation, 01 June 2014. Web. 29 Sept. 2014.
·       This article was written to give information to parents about cyber bullying. It gives a lot of different information on the topic from what cyber bullying is to the effects to the signs to how parents can help and even what to do if your child is the one being the bully!   The article said it was reviewed by a Larissa Hirsch who is a medical doctor and it was reviewed in June 2014. I would say the article is accurate and has knowledge about cyber bullying. I believe it was up to date because of the review date on the article. I think this article is very informative and helpful for everyone who reads it because it has such a huge range of information in one area.

"THE CYBER BULLYING VIRUS." YouTube. YouTube, n.d. Web. 29 Sept. 2014.
·               This resource is a video and it is basically calling cyber-bullying a virus which actually describes it very well. It also states some facts in it at the end of the video.  It states that it was filmed at Adam Scott Collegiate in Peterborough and Strutt Central. It also says that this project was produced and funded by STRUTT Central. I think it is a very interesting way to show how cyber bullying spreads and its effects on people. I think cyber bullying is a very big issue in today’s society and in order to stop it we need to educate the children on how it affects others and tell them how to stop it.
